On Friday 9th March the school were incredibly fortunate to be joined by Liz Radford, a very successful musician and composer, who lives locally. The children spent the day writing the lyrics and composing the music for our School Song. I spent some time with Year 3/4 as they were writing the music to accompany the lyrics that Year r, 1 and 2 had written in the morning and I was so impressed with the children and their talent. This was really their song; they made all of the choices about the lyrics, the verses, the chorus and the melody and the finished result was incredibly impressive! After the day, I received the following lovely message from Liz: “Thanks for a great day at Wimborne St. Giles' First School today. I think the children did a great job with the lyrics, Year 3 & 4 wrote a very catchy melody and for a group of 17 children they sound like there are 30 of them on the recording!”
High praise indeed! Huge thanks to Liz for her time and talents; the day was an incredibly rewarding one for all involved! To listen to the song—click the links below!
