We recognise our historic Christian foundation and promote our religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England.
At Wimborne St Giles CE VA First School distinctively Christian values are made explicit and are deeply embedded in the daily life of the school. Last year we asked children, parents, governors and friends of the school to help us choose five Christian values which would underpin every element of school life and work. Values are very visible around the school and we use this to drive school improvement.
The school’s Christian character has a high profile within the community. Staff work collaboratively with parents to improve attendance resolve sensitive issues and highlight pupil success.
The Christian character and values of the school have a significant impact on the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all learners. Values are integrated into all aspects of the school day and SMSC experiences are rich. Children are praised informally and more formally (Friday's Celebration Worship) for their use and application of our values.
The behaviour of learners is of the highest standard and relationships between all members of the school community are consistently attributed to the Christian character and values of the school.
The school succeeds in providing an education for those of all faiths and of none – and therefore pupils are aware of their own position within a world-wide church, rather than developing a merely parochial view. This makes for greater acceptance of our multi-cultural society. Pupils have a high degree of understanding and respect for diversity and difference both within the church and in other faith communities.
Within the context of Christian belief and practice, we provide quality education encompassing the whole of the school curriculum and school life. We encourage an understanding of the meaning and importance of faith.
At Wimborne St Giles Church of England First School, our aim is to provide a learning environment where every child will succeed by experiencing a caring, Christian culture in which each individual is included, secure, respected, valued and nurtured.
Our School Motto is:
Growing together !
Our whole school values are:
Respect, Courage, Compassion, Perseverance and Unity.
