Welcome

Welcome to Wimborne St Giles
Church of England VA First School and Nursery

I am delighted to be  Headteacher at Wimborne St Giles CE VA First School and Nursery.   My vision is to create an outstanding school in which everybody thrives and that is firmly rooted in its Christian community.

Our school motto: 'Working Together, Sharing Together, Growing Together' is central to everything we do and we are really proud of this sense of community and the 'family atmosphere' that we have cultivated.

Through our Core Christian values of Respect, Courage, Compassion, Perseverance and Unity we aim to transform our own lives and the lives of everybody within the school.

We believe that success is all down to high expectations and aspirations for every child and we aim for excellence in everything we do. School should be a joyful experience for all children; they only have one shot at primary education and the greatest responsibility we have is to get it right for them at the very beginning.

‘I am so grateful for my child to attend this small village school. They are so caring and attend to every small detail of a child’s school life. I could not be a happier parent!'

'This is a fantastic school, all my children have achieved very well and enjoy the extra-curricular clubs. The school environment is excellent!'

'I am very pleased with the way children's self-esteem and confidence is raised. All children have great opportunities to learn, sing, dance, play instruments and have a go at many exciting sports. My child loves going to school.'

At the heart of its provision is the school’s vision of providing the best for each pupil. Staff get to know pupils and their families very well so that parents and carers are totally confident that any concerns are immediately addressed. Teamwork is especially strong and staff work very hard in this small school to carry out the numerous leadership and management roles effectively.

'Their excellent knowledge of individual pupils is backed up by rigorous self-evaluation of the impact of provision on pupils’ progress so that weaker aspects are quickly identified and successfully addressed. The commitment to improvement means that, although staff and governors know pupils well, they continue to work hard in order to raise attainment further. As a result the school’s capacity for improvement is good.’ OFSTED 2010

'Teaching is good and this is enabling pupils in all classes to reach above average standards in their work…Pupils of all abilities and backgrounds make good progress in reading, writing and mathematics…Staff and governors provide a strong focus on developing pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Activities are well chosen to engage pupils’ interest. Pupils behave well and want to learn.' OFSTED 2013
