School Admissions

Here at Wimborne St Giles we are pleased to have one of the largest catchments areas in Dorset.  Therefore, please consider that our school has school places available and welcomes children from a wide range of Dorset towns and villages.  The village is 2 miles from Cranborne, 3.2 miles from Woodlands, 5 miles from Sixpenny Handley and 5.1 miles from Verwood. There is no requirement to live in the village area to attend the school.

We welcome children from all areas, so please phone the school to arrange a visit with the Head Teacher or find out when the next Open Mornings are held to learn more about our wonderful school.

The governors of voluntary aided maintained schools (previously VC and VA) are their school’s ‘admissions authority’. Every year ‘admissions authorities’ must produce their school’s admissions arrangements (Admissions Policy) for the academic year which is two years ahead of the current school year. This means that the process for determining the 2019-2020 admissions arrangements must now begin. We are proposing to change the Published Admissions Number (PAN) which is the number of children admitted  to Reception from 25 children to 16.  We must therefore carry out a formal consultation process. Please see below a Draft Admissions Policy and Supplementary Information Form for consultation. The consultation window will last for 6 weeks until 13th December 2017.
